The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is our common ground from where we fight against poverty and inequality.
Art 25 defines a very imporntant right. It affirms that “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.”
This right is one of the most important rights. A decent home is a necessary condition to build your life. Without a decent home, people lives in dispear and poverty. Fighting poverty and inequality is also fighting the lack of a decent home, is fighting the inequalities that arose from the private houding market, is fighting for other forms of housing like social housing, communal forms of housing, housing for those who don’t find a solution on the market.
